View from the Lawn Chair

Our Tree is the same age as our house, and about as old as I am. If this pine were my sibling, that one year would matter greatly, always and forever. So I better acknowledge that this tree is one year my senior (yet very much my age). Weathered, not quite straight, still standing tall and strong. Nobody told us a tree could tie you down. We couldn't have predicted we'd grow attached to a tree. But there's a wonderful sense of belonging that comes with this possesion. We have a tree in the back yard. We're possessed by that tree, it possesses us.

Silver Thimble with Mother of Pearl Inlay

Gift from director Armando Bergallo & set designer Santiago del Corral
on my 26th or so birthday, which I got to celebrate with cast & crew of
The Desert (Taller Amsterdam) while working at SIGMA Festival in
Bordeaux. They expressed the hope that I would continue to design and
build costumes for the company.

Michael Gotz at Tutta Bella Columbia City

What a treat to sit right in front of the stage and listen/ view Michael Gotz play his Martin guitar.
This virtuoso instrumentalist sounds like a trio but plays by himself and clearly enjoys what he does and has been doing for 35 years. We went home with two CDs one with the songs he played tonight, one of his Quartet playing Time Remembered (Bill Evans) and Footprints (Wayne Shorter).

Mount Rainier seen from Sewrd Park

Three years ago we sat on this very bench I'm sitting on now. We'd
been looking at homes for sale. "Look," I said we've never been to
that neighborhood south of this park, across the water."
A few months later we moved there

View of Mercer Island from Seward Park

Usually walking too fast to take in what's across the water. Blue
house on hill slope with Madrona tree stands out, not the mansions on
the shore.

Summer 2009 in Seattle

What 103F (outside) does to a can of tomatoe paste when there's no AC
inside the house
